WEBINAR | GYST LEARNING SERIES
How Culture Shapes Psychological Safety: Our Global Observations
Psychological safety is often treated as a universal concept, but does it look the same across every culture, team, and workplace?
In this webinar, Simon Giffin, Safety & Leadership Specialist and one of our Senior Program Facilitators, will share his observations from working with leaders across multiple countries and industries. Drawing on these experiences, Simon will explore the patterns he's seeing around psychological safety — what seems to be universal, what is shaped by culture, and where organisations can unintentionally get it wrong by assuming psychological safety looks the same everywhere.
The session will examine how cultural context influences communication, leadership behaviours, trust, and speaking up at work, highlighting the often subtle ways these factors shape team dynamics in different environments.
Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how culture shapes psychological safety, greater awareness of the subtle differences in how it shows up across contexts, and practical insights they can apply to foster more open, trusting, and inclusive environments within their own teams.
